Expert witness - An expert witness is a witness, who by virtue of education, or profession, or experience, is believed to have special knowledge of his subject beyond that of the average person, sufficient that others may officially (and legally) rely upon his opinion.
Hostile witness - In United States law, a hostile witness is a witness in a trial who testifies for the opposing party or a witness who offers adverse testimony to the calling party during direct examination. A witness called by the opposing party is presumed hostile.
Lübeck law - Lübeck's law was from the 13th century in the Middle Ages the foundation for municipal laws in many neighbouring cities on the Baltic Sea. An official Lübeck Law transcript was never available or used until the revised edition of 1586 was printed by printer Johann Balhorn, but rather Lübeck was the a leader in German cities giving rights to town citizens and overturning aristocratic privilege.
Homes's law - In superconductivity, Homes's law states that a superconductor's transition temperature is proportional to the strength of the superconducting state at zero temperature (that is, the superfluid density) multiplied by the above-transition electrical resistivity. The law is named for physicist Christopher Homes and was first presented in the July 29 2004 edition of Nature.
